LEEDS UNITED WIN

Good Display by District FA XI

It was the superior finishing of the professionals that gave Leeds United their four goals to three victory over the Leeds and District F.A. Eleven in the Jubilee Fund match at Elland Road yesterday. Two goals down at the interval, the amateurs rallied in good style, and better marksmanship by their forwards might have earned them a division of the honours. The District F.A. team were seen to best advantage in their defence, and Stringer (Leeds Police) got through a lot of good work in goal, whilst he received good support from his backs, Roylance, (Yorkshire Amateurs) and Aspinall (Freehold Albion). Oxley and Kilkenny (Yorkshire Amateurs) were two half-backs who shone in attack, and of the forwards, Saxton (South Leeds Albion) and Gibbons (Mount St. Mary's), took the eye. In the early stages Goldberg and Gadsby covered Childerson so well that he had little to do, but after the interval the United defence was at full stretch. Mahon and Jack Kelly made a forceful United right wing. Mahon (2), Lowe, and Hargreaves scored for United; and Saxton, Gibbons, and Gibson replied for the District F.A.
